Get ready for Carman- Ainsworth Kindergarten Round-Up 2018-19

FLINT TWP. — If you have a child who turns age 5 by September 1, plan to attend kindergarten registration at The Learning Community, 1181 W. Scottwood Ave from 8:30–10 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. on Feb. 22. Registration information needed includes proof of residency (mortgage/ property tax document, or a lease with two recent pieces of important mail such as: utility bill, insurance document, bank statement, important business correspondence, etc.); a Certified birth certificate; up-todate immunization record; social security number; custody restrictions (if applicable) and hearing and vision screening results (if done). Foundation hosting overnight youth event

FLINT TWP. — The 2018 Youth Lockin Event, sponsored by the Clingman Foundation, will be held from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. on Feb. 16-17 at Victorious Word Church, 3560 Beecher Road. Admission is $20 per person and is open to ages 8 to 12. Activities will include a PlayStation Xbox Tournament, dance contest, basketball and volleyball games, karaoke, and movies. There will be prizes and giveaways. The Clingman Foundation is a community action group designed to help inner city youth accomplish the goal of completing high school, college and career dreams beyond. Date set for annual C-A fundraiser

FLINT TWP. — The 4th annual Silent Auction fundraiser, hosted by the Carman- Ainsworth Education Foundation, will be held at 5:30-8:30 p.m. on April 27 at the Flushing Valley Golf Club & Banquet Center, 1124 E. Main Street, in Flushing. This year’s honorees are Brandon Carr, a Carman-Ainsworth 2004 graduate and current NFL player; Herb Jensen, former C-A central office administrator and Leanne Welch, a third-grade teacher at Rankin Elementary and coach of the C-A middle school VEX Robotics teams. Each is being honored for continuously and unselfishly giving their time, talents, and support for the good of C-A students, families, staff, and the greater school community. Tickets are $25 each and include a buffet dinner. A cash bar will be available. A silent auction of numerous valuable prizes is a highlight of the event.
