5 reasons YOU should attend View Brew Fest

LAPEER – View Brew Fest takes over Lapeer County for its fourth year from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Beer enthusiasts near and far won’t want to miss the fun inside and out at Louie’s Sports Tavern, 3301 Davison Rd., Lapeer.

With over 100 craft beers samples from around the U.S., guests are bound to find (at least) one ale, lager, stout or cider, they enjoy.

Even if you don’t love beer there are plenty of reasons join the fun and festivities. Here are just five of the reasons YOU should attend View Brew Fest.

5. You can find your new favorite brew! Think you don’t like beer? Think again. With more than 100 craft beers to choose from, chances are you’ll find one you like. Brewers today go pretty outside the box with their flavors, including hints of chocolate, ice cream, citrus, cinnamon and more. Plus, some vendors offer up hard cider, which tends to be sweeter than typical beer. Already a beer lover? Great! Find your new favorite brew thanks to the low-cost samples and short lines.

4. Support local!

While the festival will feature beers from all around the U.S., there will be plenty of Michigan breweries including Founders, Shorts, Atwater and many, many more. There’s no better way to show your pride in the mitten state than by drinking local beer. Speaking of support. There are so many great sponsors of View Brew Fest, including presenting sponsor Jim Riehl’s Friendly Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Venue Sponsor McLaren Lapeer Region. Come out to View Brew Fest and visit with these sponsors and more and tell them “thank you” for supporting such a great community event and helping to put Lapeer on the craft beer map.

3. Live music! Awesome live music by two Michigan bands, The Reefermen and The Locals is part of the fun at View Brew Fest.

2. Help two great causes! If the first four reasons still aren’t enough to attend the View Brew Fest, hopefully this one will give you the final push. Money raised through the festival goes to the Lapeer County Hockey Association (LCHA). In the past three years the event has raised $15,000 for the organization, which is used to fund scholarships, buy safety equipment and much more. In addition, this year attendees also have the chance to raise money for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Thanks to a partnership between Genisys Credit Union and View Newspaper Group, the Food Bank will raffle off a “Wheelbarrow of Cheer” filled with craft beer at the event. Tickets for the raffle are just $5, which can provide 30 meals for people who struggle with hunger.

1. There are TWO nights of BEER! View Brew Fest fun actually starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 with a VIP party inside at Louie’s Sports Tavern. With the VIP ticket ($50) guest receive the regular ticket perks plus entrance into the VIP event, featuring food, entertainment and more.
