FLINT TWP. — Outdoor events at both Vehicle City Harley Davidson and the Sonic Drive-In restaurant next door drew a large crowd to Miller Road at Austin Parkway last Friday night.
The gathering at Vehicle City is part of its summer long Friday Bike Night event which has been going on since May. Held on the grounds of the sprawling dealership, it features entertainment by a live band and refreshments served at its authentic restored Fifties’ diner.
Next week’s Bike Night, from 6-9 p.m. will feature a performance by The Outer Vibe, a well-known Michigan pop band. That will be followed on Saturday, July 18, by a Rockabilly Rebel Rider Bash featuring a pin-up contest, tattoos, a fit box and car and motorcycle show. A schedule of events is posted on Vehicle City’s website at www.vehiclecityharley.com/ event_ calendar.asp
Not to be outshone, lovers of old cars popped the hoods on a variety of vintage vehicles at a cruise gathering at the Sonic drive-in. Similar cruises are held regularly at venues throughout the township leading up to the annual blowout Back to the Bricks Tune-up Party Week, August 3 – 9, which kicks off in Flint Township Monday, August 3 in the parking lot at Genesee Valley Center shopping mall.
