– All week, the electronic message board in front of Latina Restaurant & Pizzeria, 1370 West Bristol Road, has been flashing a colorful reminder that Sunday is a special day for mothers. It will be a busy day for many restaurants because Mother’s Day is the top holiday for dining out, with one in four American adults planning to do so, according to the National Restaurant Association. It’s also a big day for spending with U.S. consumers expected to spend $4.2 billion – an average $172.63 per person – on gifts including dinner or brunch, flowers, cards and jewelry, according to the National Retail Federation annual survey conducted by Proper Insights and Analytics. – Photos by Rhonda Sanders
