All-Star volleyball game a hit

FLINT — Every year, Mott Community College hosts All-Star games for recently graduated high school athletes. This year was no different as the annual Mott Bruin Club All-Star Volleyball game took place on June 19 on the campus of Mott Community College.

The Gold team was coached by Tiffany Burghdorf of Davison. Lapeer West’s Kaitlin Eckel was the lone representative from the Lapeer area and played on the Gold squad. She was joined by Megan Cockin of Fenton, Taylor Twohig and Rebekah Kujat of Flushing, Abbigail McGuire of Swartz Creek, New Lothrop’s Bethany Kviz and Brittney Severn, Inessa Bell of Mt. Morris, Davison’s Megan Jones and Genesee’s Maegan Hooper.

Leading the Black squad was Linden’s Cori Mason. Black squad members included Linden’s Callie Murphy and Kelsey Brecht, Monica Townsend of Carman-Ainsworth, Alexis Thompson of Byron, Flushing’s Kennedy Boulton, Margo Joubran of Mt. Morris, Grand Blanc’s Marissa Miller and Kara Pouidokas, Davison’s Michaela Ryan and Maizie Martin of Fenton.

A majority of the athletes in the game will be playing sports in college. Eckel, Cockin, Twohig, McGuire and Severn will play volleyball for Mott in the fall.
