Ananich files to run for reelection to State Senate

FLINT TWP. — State Senator Jim Ananich (D-Flint) has filed to run for reelection to the 27th District in Genesee County. Ananich has served in the state Senate since winning a special election last year.

“My top priority is being a strong voice in Lansing for Genesee County families,” said Ananich in a press release.. “I plan to work hard earning their vote to continue our fight for good jobs, better schools, and safer neighborhoods.”

Following his election last year, Ananich has been at the forefront of efforts to improve public safety and prevent scrap metal theft. He has been an advocate for worker training programs and job creation measures.

A former teacher in Flint public schools, he has championed additional resources for students and educators. He currently serves on four committees: Banking and Financial Institutions, Economic Development, Health Policy, and Transportation.

The current 27th District includes the cities of Flint, Flushing, Fenton, Linden, Montrose and Swartz Creek and the townships of Argentine, Clayton, Fenton, Flint, Flushing, Gaines, Genesee, Montrose, and Mundy. Due to redistricting, the new boundaries of the 27th District this fall will include the cities of Flint, Burton, Clio, Mt. Morris, and Swartz Creek and the townships of Flint, Forest, Genesee, Mt. Morris, Richfield, Thetford, and Vienna.
