The View Newspapers welcome election-related letters to the editor. We believe it’s important to hear from our readers on what issues you believe are important and which candidate( s) you favor and why.
As with anything, we have some ground rules for election-related letters.
The deadline for submitting letters to the editor regarding the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 22 by 5 p.m., with the last date for publication being Oct. 25. No letters regarding the election or the candidates will be accepted or published after those dates.
Not all letters are guaranteed to be published. Those selected for publication will run in print and will be posted to our website. The word limit is 400 words. Letters longer than that will be rejected. As with anything, we reserve the right to edit letters for grammar, spelling, language, civility, good taste, libel and editorial style; however, we will not change content.
No more than one letter from a contributor will be published in a 30-day period.
With the elections, there are some additional guidelines for letters:
Letters should be issue-oriented and not personal attacks on the other candidate. We will not publish letters that criticize a candidate without endorsing another candidate(s). We will also not publish letters in poor taste. Accusations against a candidate must be easily verifiable in order to be published.
We accept letters from individuals, not from a group of individuals. Letters must be original compositions and not part of a letter-writing campaign.
Email your letters to managing editor Gary Gould at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you this election season.
