SWARTZ CREEK — The Swartz Creek Area Art Guild and Gallery will be hosting its second annual holiday sale on Black Friday, Nov. 23, and the entire month of December.
The holiday sale features a 10 percent discount on all items in the gallery and the gift shop.
“As we celebrate our second anniversary, our goal is to continue to promote the viisual arts in Swartz Creek and surrounding communities through education and the development of artistic activities as well as to provide artists a venue for the display and sale of art,” said Nancy Olds, a member of the Swartz Creek Area Art Guild.
The Swartz Creek gallery displays and sells the artwork of members of the Swartz Creek Area Art Guild, which has drawn over 50 members from such areas as Genesee, Shiawassee and Lapeer Counties as well as the State of Massachusetts, including national and international published artists like Peggy Abrams, Jim Battles, William Kleinedeler and Clark Sullivan.
“The gallery is a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the Guild’s members, both past and present,” Olds said.
The second annual holiday sale will feature a wide variety framed and unframed prints for sale, with some being numbered and signed and ranging in price from $15 to $550. The prints, which are reproductions of artist originals, are by various artists, including Abrams, Karan Pinkston, Alicia Marsland-Geromel, Colleen Ford and Kleinedeler.
“It’s a huge range, and it takes into consideration almost everyone’s budget,” Olds said.
The sale also features a variety of wood puzzles and wooden Christmas ornaments by Swartz Creek resident Charles Jackson. The wooden ornaments boast Jackson’s scroll saw and wood turning work.
“They’re unique, and they’re beautiful,” Olds said.
Further, ornaments made of fabric and ribbons, which are created by Judy Ann Lowrie, will be at the sale, as well as handmade woodland and old-world Santas by Becky Battles, which features a hand-sculpted clay face with a cloth body.
Other items by Beck Battles, such as Christmas quilts, place mats and table runners, which are all made from American fabrics, will also be for sale.
There will also be a variety of Christmas cards and general note cards for sale, which are printed from the original work of artists.
In addition to the Christmas-themed items, the gallery houses many original paintings, including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, with subjects matters ranging across florals, landscapes and animals. The gallery also features photography, pen and ink artwork and jewelry.
