ATLAS TWP. — Atlas Township officials will consolidate the polls for the upcoming May 4 election.
“We are expecting much lower turnout,” said Clerk Katie Vick.
The consolidation will reduce the number of poll workers needed for the election, and save the township some costs.
Voters in precincts 1 and 3 will cast their ballots at Bridgewood Church, 10291 Green Road. Voters in precincts 2 and 4 will vote at the United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Road.
There will be no voting at St. Mark or Creekside Acres in May.
The ballot will contain two countywide funding requests.
One is a new, 0.93-mil, 10-year levy to support Genesee County Community Mental Health services. If approved, the millage would begin in 2021 and raise about $9.5 million.
The funds will help provide law enforcement and first responders with mental health and crisis training, support and services in the courts and corrections systems, suicide prevention, school crisis, and de-escalation and health and wellness for vulnerable populations.
The other request is a renewal of the $1.86 per month surcharge on all phone lines in Genesee County, through Dec. 31, 2026. The surcharge is expected to raise $7 million.
