‘Back the Badge’ fundraiser set

CLAYTON TWP. — Some Swartz Creek area folks are putting together a fundraiser in an effort to show community support for local law enforcement.

A fundraising event is planned for 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, in the pavilion at American Legion Post 294, 3440 Morrish Road.

A $10 admission cost pays for a hot dog, beverage and a “Back the Badge” yard sign.

There also will be a quilt auction. Additional items also may be auctioned off.

Co-organizer and Swartz Creek Councilman Dennis Cramer said he hopes to raise enough money to pay for the signs already printed and for more signs – at least 900 total. He said the signs are “very patriotic.”

So far, Jan’s Bar & Grill has donated hot dogs, and Wendy’s has contributed cups. Organizers continue to seek donations of chips and beverages, as well as auction items.
