Back to the Bricks 2012 to be topic at business meeting

FLINT TWP. — Suzanne Kayser, director of projects for Patsy Lou Chevy-Buick GMC and Mark Cormier of Duke’s Car Stereo will be the guest speakers at the West Flint Business Association monthly meeting, noon to 1:15 p.m. Nov. 16 at Old Country Buffet, 3583 Miller Rd. This month’s topic is “How you can get involved in the 2012 Flint Township Back to the Bricks Tuneup Party. Salvation Army partners with Angel Tree program

FLINT TWP. — The Salvation Army has teamed up with retail giant JCPenney to spread Christmas cheer to children in need through the Angel Tree program. The Angel Tree program allows customers to go online to purchase and donate toys, clothing and other much needed items for less fortunate children in Genesee County. Customers can search for angels by zip code, age and gender and may adopt up to 10 angels at a time. The on-line Angel Tree program runs through Dec. 16. It builds on the legacy of The Salvation Army’s long standing Angel Tree program, which has been in operation for more than 40 years. CAHS honor society to conduct holiday food drive

FLINT TWP. — The National Honor Society at Carman-Ainsworth High School still is collecting food for its annual food drive. Donors are asked to bring in food to provide for families during the holiday season. Donations are being accepted through Nov. 11. — R.S.

Old Newsboys

FLINT TWP. — The township board has approved a tent sale for Tropical Smoothie Café, 2103 Linden Rd., to host a tent sale Saturday to benefit Old Newsboys. A Santa Beach Party from noon to 4 p.m. will include tropical music, a money cube, a tiki bar, a kids coloring contest, give-aways and discount coupons, pictures with Santa (with a $5 donation), a prize wheel and opportunity to sponsor a child. A portion of sales from Tropical Smoothie the day’s sales at its Flint and Fenton location will be donated to Old Newsboys. — R.S.

Sealed bids sought for snow plowing township properties

FLINT TWP. — The township board of trustees is seeking sealed bids for snowplowing at the administration office, the police department, three fire stations and the Senior Citizens Center. Bid specifications and forms can be picked up at the township offices Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Bids are due by noon on November 16 and the winning proposal will be selected at the regular township board meeting on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. — R.S.
