FLINT TWP. — Ladies and Gentlemen, prepare to start your engines. The annual Back to the Bricks Tune-up Week of parties are set to start August 8 at three locations in Flint Township, followed by five more events elsewhere in Genesee County, August 9-13.
Tune Up parties are week-long precursor events to rev up excitement for the main Back to the Bricks event August 16 -20. Now in its 11th year, BTB is said to attract more than 500,000 people to a variety of events in downtown Flint and beyond. Tuneup Party activities vary by location, but include 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s themes, concessions, vendors, live music, dancing in the streets, giveaways, and the opportunity to drive around the track at Auto City Speedway in Clio, according to information provided on the BTB website.
A limited number of specially-designed T-shirts will be handed out at each location to participants who collect a special ticket.
The Flint Township Tune-up party kicks off from noon to 2 p.m. at the ITT-Tech building, 6369 Miller Road where participants can pick up tickets for the free commemorative T-shirt.
From 2 -4:30 p.m., the party moves down the road to the south parking lot at Genesee Valley Center mall, where concessions, music and giveaways will be offered and the T-shirt ticket gets punched for eligibility at the last stop.
