FLINT TWP. — On Oct. 23, at 1 p.m., Baker College of Flint Barnes & Noble Bookstore will host its first book signing for a Baker College employee.
Darla Nagel, a five-year professional writing tutor at the college, will read from and sign copies of her memoir, “Lightening the Shadow: Diagnosing and Living with an Invisible Chronic Illness.” The event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Baker College of Flint Student Center, adjacent to the bookstore.
“We’re really excited to be able to host this signing for one of our staff members,” said Beth Buffington, store manager. “We want to encourage and support any of our faculty authors and hope to have more events like this in the future.”
Nagel wrote her book to help other young people with invisible chronic illnesses and educate future health care professionals, so she has invited health sciences students and faculty from across the Baker College system. She also blogs for people with chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities at www.darlanagel.com.
“Lightening the Shadow,” published by IngramSpark, is 166 pages and is available at Baker College of Flint Bookstore for $13.99. Learn more by calling the store at (810) 766-4055. Baker College of Flint is located at 1050 W. Bristol Rd. — G.G.
