FLINT
— Michael Kia, D.O., a board certified general surgeon, has earned Center of Excellence (COE) physician certification in Bariatric Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation.

This designation recognizes Dr. Kia for achieving a high level of skill in bariatric surgery though volume of surgical cases, pre- and postoperative care and as possessing credentials to perform both laparoscopic and open bariatric surgery in an accredited hospital.

Dr. Kia joins fellow surgeon Harris Dabideen, M.D., with McLaren Bariatric Institute, to be among the specialized group of surgeons to receive COE certification in bariatric surgery.

The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) works with the Surgical Review Corporation to manage the COE process.
