— The Battle of the Bands tunes up at Bubba O’Malley’s Restaurant in Burton on Aug. 29, beginning at 2 p.m.
The annual event raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network at Hurley Medical Center, benefitting a program that helps children battle cancer, birth defects, accident trauma and just about any health challenge.
“We’re hoping to raise $3,000 for the children,” said Angie Cuneaz, Hurley Foundation special events director, Hurley. “One hundred percent of the proceeds stay at Hurley. We want to do everything we can to help strengthen children’s health care here in Flint. Coming to hear these bands is one of the best ways you can help the children and make a difference.”
The cost is $5 per person. Bubba O’Malley’s is located at I-69 at Belsay Road in Burton. The band schedule: 2 p.m. — Crop Circle; 3 p.m. — Mindflaw; 4 p.m. — Bullhonky Deluxe; 5 p.m. — Nuroksol; 6 p.m. — Tripp N Dixie; 7 p.m. — Image; and 8 p.m. — Rhythm Gypsies.
The Children’s Miracle Network is a system of 170 hospitals across the United States and Canada dedicated to providing the best care for sick and injured children. Hurley joined CMN in 1990 and is one of only four CMN hospitals in Michigan. Hurley provides quality, child-centered care to all who need it, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
The Hurley Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will collect the funds raised for CMN. To make a donation, call 810-257-9667 or visit the Hurley Foundation website at www.hurleyfoundation.org.
