Be kind to the front line

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for our front-line workers. This is more than just a general appreciation. I have personally just experienced how important and professional they really are. Some of you may know, another vehicle hit mine early in the morning last Friday, Oct. 9 while I was on my way to work.

I would like to thank the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, Flint Township Police Department, MedStar Paramedics, and the wonderful staff at Genesys Hospital for their excellent service and care. To those who have been asking how I’m doing, I’m have been discharged from the hospital. I am recovering slowly. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

I also want to mention that one of our Richfield Township Police officers was badly injured when he was rear ended while making a left hand turn on his brand new (hours old) motorcycle. Frontline workers, such as him, are just as vulnerable as anyone else. If they are sidelined, they cannot be there for all of us, when we all need them the most.

Please people, think about how you’re driving. Don’t let yourself be distracted or impaired. — Gerald Masters, Richfield Township
