FLINT TWP. — A Best Coney in Genesee County Tasting Event and a fireworks show will highlight a five-day Genesee Valley Coney Festival that will incorporate Back to the Bricks pre–cruise events. The Coney Festival based at Genesee Valley mall kicks off with events from 4-11 p.m. on August 10 including performances by various local groups and featured carnival rides by Wade Shows. Several other local businesses are gearing up to share in the fun.
A Back to the Bricks pre-cruise will start at 2 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Patsy Lou Mega Lot, G-2100 Linden Road. At 5 p.m., it moves to Duke’s Car Stereo, G-4081 Miller Road where free shirts and door prizes will be awarded at 7:30 p.m. Festival events continue at the mall on Thursday culminating with a Fireworks Show from 10:30-11 p.m.
On Friday, Coney Festival events start at noon and continue until 11 p.m., including an Open Mic Night from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday’s fun starts at noon and includes allday Karaoke contests and the Best Coney Tasting Event at 6 p.m., followed by awards. Sunday’s lastday fun from noon to 8 p.m.. includes performances by church choirs from 2 -4 p.m. and performances by various local groups. — R.S.
