GRAND BLANC TWP. — Grand Blanc Township will invest $12,340 in new soccer goals for Bicentennial Park.
Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Linihan said township officials had some concerns about liability since the township does not own any of the four goals at the park.
“The goals currently at the park are owned by AYSO and the Detroit City Football Club,” Linihan said. “We wanted to make sure we are able to limit the liability of having private property in the park.”
In addition, he wanted the goals to match.
“If you drive through the park now, you see different types of goals, and the nets aren’t maintained,” he said. “This (purchasing goals) gives us a little bit more control and makes the park look a little better, too.” — L.R.
