Big road projects ahead in Mundy Township; park to open in summer

MUNDY TWP. — Two “pretty significant” road projects are scheduled to occur this summer in Mundy Township.

“The dominant topic of conversation at this time in the year is, ‘what our construction season is going to look like?’” said township Manager Chad Young.

“One of the things we really want our residents to be aware of is there is going to be some pretty significant work along Grand Blanc Road this year.”

In particular, the bridge over the Swartz Creek just east of US 23 will be replaced, which will require shutting down a stretch of Grand Blanc Road from early July to October.

“That can represent a significant impact on some residents,” said Young. “That is a primary road to access the highway interchange.”

In addition, a roundabout will be installed at Grand Blanc and Linden roads. That project is expected to take place earlier in the construction season, Young said.

“They are trying to alternate projects so we don’t have significant closures at the same time,” he said.

The other big news in the township this year will be completion of the park on Hill Road. The park and paved walking path are slated to open in June or July.

The Miracle League of Greater Flint continues to raise funds in hopes of breaking ground on a fully accessible baseball field.

“Seeing that come to fruition is exciting for the township,” said Young.
