MUNDY TWP. — The first public event at the brand, new Mundy Miracle Commons park is coming up this weekend.
The Genesee Wanderers Cycling Club will host a community bicycle parade and ride from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Mundy Miracle Commons, located on Hill Road, between Van Slyke and Fenton roads.
The event is free but registration is requested (but not required). To register, visit geneseewanderers.clubexpress.com/content.aspx.
Everyone is welcome to ride the paved, two-mile, double-loop trail.
Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes for the bike parade at 1 p.m. Owners of vintage bicycles are urged to stop by with their bikes, as well.
The rest of the afternoon will be for riding and exploring the trail that meanders through a wooded landscape, once a farmer’s field.
“It’s kind of an introduction to the trail,” said Matt Assenmacher, owner of Assenmacher Cycling Center, a co-sponsor of the event.
Helmets will be required and masks encouraged.
Bicycle safety information will be available.
There will be porta-potties on site.
No food or beverages will be served, so it’s a great opportunity for a picnic lunch and some fun, healthy family time. — L.R.
