FLINT TWP. —Several hundred motorcycle riders are expected to gather on Saturday at the Vehicle City Harley- Davidson dealership, 2400 Austins Parkway, as part of this weekend’s Bikes on the Bricks festivities.
Sixty police officers will escort the riders as they roar out at 4 p.m. on a 40-mile ride through Genesee County ending in downtown Flint at the BOB festivities site.
The number of participating riders is uncertain but organizers are planning for more than last year because the event has been moved from Friday to Saturday, said Brianna Hoover, Vehicle City marketing director.
Riders who haven’t already registered can do so on site before the ride at a cost of $10 per rider and $5 per passenger.. Non-riders can purchase wristbands for $5 which are good for a chance to win prizes and also admission to after parties. Proceeds will go to the Flint Police Activities League for children’s programs.
Hoover said she expects riders to begin arriving around 3 p.m.
“We will have water and handouts and things for sale,’’ she said of pre-ride activities.
Vehicle City Harley-Davidson is the presenting sponsor of BOB, and also will have a tent set up downtown with food and other items. It also will provide two mechanics to make bike adjustments and repairs if needed, with no labor charge.
BOB events begin Friday at 10 a.m. with a full day of activities including a Wall of Death, tattoo contest, and Law Enforcers Skill competition. There will be vendor displays, live music, prizes and after parties. A full list of activities and times for all three days is posted online at www.bikesonthebricks.com.
