FLINT TWP. — In a recount last week of ballots for the township treasurer, Marsha Binelli remained the winner.
She gained one additional vote, brining her total to 1310 votes — 25 more than her challenger Donald Thompson, who received 1285 votes, according to information provided by township clerk Kim Courts.
Thompson requested the recount because of the narrow margin.
A third candidate, Nathaniel Olivo, also gained a few votes in the recount, Courts said. But his third place finish did not alter the outcome.
The recount was conducted by the Genesee County Clerk’s elections division.
Binelli, who worked previously for the township as a deputy supervisor and a code enforcement officer, will be unopposed in the November general election.
