GENESEE COUNTY — Jim Rice, Bishop International Airport Director, announced his retirement at the Airport Authority Board Meeting on Tuesday, effective October 8.
Rice began working at Bishop in March 1990 and is the first and only director to serve under the Airport Authority which was formed in 1987.
“It was a tough decision,’’ said Rice. “I take a lot f pride in what we have been able to accomplish here, as well as in how our employees and community feel about the airport.
During my tenure, we have built a state-of-the-art facility and expanded our cargo and general aviation operations. Everything is top-notch. Bishop Airport is well respected n this region and throughout the field of aviation. It has been humbling to be part of these achievements.”
It is anticipated that the Airport Authority will conduct a nationwide search to replace Rice.
