GREENVILLE, SC — The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has named three Bob Jones University Bruins student-athletes as National Player of the Week. Cross Country runners Hannah Peterson and Michael Steurer were given the honor while Jenna Bishop from the women’s soccer team also received the national recognition.

Sophomore Jenna Bishop, a resident of Davison, had a strong week for the Bruins women’s soccer team as she finished with 2 goals and 1 assist in two games. On Oct. 27, Bishop provided an assist in the go-ahead goal, but the team fell to Brewton-Parker 2-1. She saved her best performance for last as she scored two goals for the Bruins in a 2-1 road victory over Johnson University (TN) on Oct. 30. This is the first time Bishop has been named National Player of the Week by the NCCAA.

The Student-Athlete of the Week award is chosen by the NCCAA and recognizes the play of student-athletes in their respective sport. BJU is a provisional member of NCAA DIII and an NCCAA member. The BJU Bruins feature 12 varsity programs and over 200 student-athletes. — G.G.
