FLUSHING — The Blackmore Rowe Insurance 10-12 girls softball team climbed back into first place in its division after winning three straight games from June 15 to June 22.
Coming off back-to-back losses on June 8 and June 10, Blackmore Rowe responded with a 10-3 win over First Response Restoration on June 15. Blackmore Rowe then avenged a 6-0 loss to Penny Jones Icon Mortgage by topping Penny Jones, 10-9, on June 17 and defeating Flushing Vision Source on June 22 by a score of 4-0.
In the game against Flushing Vision Source, Blackmore Rowe pitchers Reese Linz and Reese Youngston combined for the first shutout of their pitching careers and got great support from their teammates in the field. In the contest with Penny Jones, Blackmore Rowe trailed by one run going into the final inning but rallied with two runs and a walk-off RBI single by Youngston.
Blackmore Rowe started the season 2-0 before losing 6-0 to Penny Jones Icon Mortgage and falling 2-1 to Flushing Vision Source. Following the three-game win streak, Blackmore Rowe bumped its record to 5-2. — B.G.
