Board approves DHS restoration project

DAVISON — The Davison Board of Education approved the first project to come out of the 2020 bond proposal passed by voters in March.

The board unanimously agreed to begin an asbestos removal project at Davison High School and a subsequent project to restore the section of the building affected by the abatement.

The cost of the asbestos abatement will be $154,000. The board then approved DCC Construction’s recommendation of Metcalf Electric’s bid of $56,500 to replace the electrical and a bid by Acoustic Ceiling of $79,500 to replace the ceiling and partitions.

Superintendent Kevin Brown said construction of the new performing arts center at the high school isn’t expected to start until next spring. — G.G.
