FLINT TWP. — Sealed bids are being sought for property located at 2105 Mill Rd. following board action, Dec. 3, to place the tax-reverted property for sale.
The Flint Township Board of Trustees voted unanimously to seek sealed bids, with the starting price at $48,800.
The site is the location of the now closed Thompson Creek Turkey Farm. Supervisor Karyn Miller said the Empowered Believers Church, 2101 Mill Rd., had expressed interest in the property, but had not been back in contact with the township.
“We had a verbal agreement with the church, but we’ve heard nothing back since mid-October,” said Miller. “We have an interested party.”
The standard policy for handling the sale of such property is to open it up to bids by the public and selling it to the highest bidder.
Trustee Frank Kasle made the motion to seek sealed bids, suggesting Dec. 31 as the return date. Clerk Kathy Funk said more time was necessary due to the process of listing the request for bids in the newspaper and waiting for the bids to come in.
The board decided bids for the property must be returned by Jan. 16 and they will be opened and brought for board approval at the Jan. 22 meeting.
