Boats4Vets returns for another summer

FENTON — Boat4Vets, an organization dedicated to thanking Veterans by opening their docks to those who have served, will be hosting an event on July 27 at Skipper Bud’s, located at 14016 Fenton Rd., free to Veterans and their families as a way of showing appreciation and support.

This event, made possible by sponsors and donations, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and includes food, gifts and boat rides.

The Lake Fenton Chapter hosted 40-50 people when it was added to Boat4Vets in 2012. Since then, attendance in Fenton has grown to over 250 people with approximately 80-90 Veterans at the 2017 event. Following the approximate schedule, registration for this year’s event will begin at 9 a.m. and coffee and doughnuts will be made available until 10:30 a.m., followed by Ceremonies- the Pledge of Allegiance, our National Anthem, POW Table Ceremony and Prayer For The Day -from 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Crews will be assigned to boats and cruises will begin at 11 a.m.. Cruises will last from 60 to 90 minutes each. Lunch and refreshments will be served continuously from 12-3 p.m. and all boats will return by 3 p.m..
