FLINT, MI (OCTOBER 2, 2015) – In light of the recent request for donations of bottled water by Flint Community Schools Superintendent, Bilal Tawwab, Genesee Valley Center in partnership with Townsquare Media and TV5 will host a community Bottled Water Drive to ensure safe drinking water for students. Due to the urgency of the matter, the event will take place Friday, October 9th from 7:00 am to 7:00pm at the Outdoor Village of Genesee Valley Center. Donations will be collected rain or shine. The community is asked to donate any size, unopened bottled water in any quantity. Staff and volunteers will transport and deliver all donations to Flint Community Schools.
“When we read that children were one of the most vulnerable groups when it comes to elevated levels of lead and heard the Superintendent’s request for donations, we knew we needed to help,” said Kristen Cassabon, marketing manager at Genesee Valley Center. “Our goal is to bring the community together to support the students of Flint Community Schools. No donation is too small.”
Genesee Valley Center, View Newspaper Group, Townsquare Media and TV5 are working with their partners to secure bottled water donations in advance of the drive. To date, Barnes & Noble, Bishop Design & Display, C&L Ward, Culligan of Flint, Envy Modular Wall Systems, Genesee Valley Center, Halo Burger, Kelly Anne Smith- Keller Williams, Kerning Advertising, Optimist International, Rock Bottom Stone Supply, Suburban Office & Janitorial Supplies, Subway and Universal Protection Services have committed donations totaling over 500 cases of bottled water.
