Bowlers sweep Powers Catholic

FLINT – Carman-Ainsworth swept a pair of Saginaw Valley League bowling matches against Powers Catholic on Monday night, winning the boys’ match 30-0 and the girls’ meet 22-8 at B’s Bowling Center.

Milton Gibson rolled a 258 game, Jordan Nunn bowled a 238-210 series, Jordan Bair added a 199 game and Wanya Montgomery had a 195, as the Cavaliers remained in a third-place tie at 8-3.

Caity Cox led the girls with a 212- 190 series, and Tiara Poe bowled a season-high 181.

A day earlier, Nunn reached the final match of the Cavalier Invitational Eliminator Singles Championships at Grand Blanc Lanes, falling to Swartz Creek’s Jacob Hutcheson.

On Feb. 2 Carman-Ainsworth lost to Davison 25-5 in the boys’ match and 16-14 in the girls’ meet at Monitor Lanes in Bay City.

Jordan Nunn had a 262-232 series, Gibson a 265-188 and Masen Ancira a 222-197. Cox led the girls with a 194- 195 set, while Molly Doty bowled a 187 and Kennedy Hogan a 181.

The boys team will bowl in the SVL Singles Tournament next Tuesday at Monitor Lanes and the girls will bowl the next night at Northern Lanes in Sanford. – D.N.
