FLINT – Carman- Ainsworth’s game with Flint Northwestern scheduled for Tuesday was canceled due to inclement weather. The game was rescheduled for Wednesday after we went to press.

Carman-Ainsworth got off to a quick start and rolled past Powers 74-45 Friday. The Cavaliers turned up the defensive intensity early against the Chargers.

“We really got after it defensively,” Carman-Ainsworth coach Witham said. “We pressured them full court and that created a lot of turnovers.

‘We got easy baskets off the turnovers and led 15-2 at the end of the first quarter.”

Carman-Ainsworth had three players reach double figures. Aaron Williams led the way with 18 points, Chan Pearson added 11 and Michael Fletcher had 10. O’Mari Duncan chipped in nine for the Cavaliers.

The win raised Carman- Ainsworth’s overall record to 9-1. The Cavaliers have won three straight since their only loss of the season to second ranked Clarkston, 60-47.

“Clarkston was a good measuring stick and we are building on that every day,” Witham said. – K.W.
