Businesses and organizations who wish to MCC, WIE provide musical tribute

FLINT
— A surprise tribute will be included in Friday’s “Amazing Grace: Wind Beneath Our Wings Tea” on the Flint campus of Mott Community College (MCC).

The SOLD OUT event recognition will kick off at 12:10 p.m. with a tribute to “a well known woman” in and around campus and Genesee County. The Women in Education (WIE) Committee said they believe this person epitomizes those honorees who have served as “the wind beneath their wings” of success.

The Foundation for MCC and WIE are hosting the noon tea at MCC’s Applewood Café as a special tribute to those individuals who provided strength and inspiration during times of struggle. Flint Police Sgt. Jowanne Carrigan will provide musical entertainment. A hat fashion show will be provided by Royal Touch.

The Tea will include a presentation on tea etiquette as well as provide the opportunity to reconnect with women throughout the community, she added.

The WIE Committee is comprised of women in the Genesee County area who recognize the need for non-academic areas of support for female students at MCC. Students, MCC faculty and staff, as well as members of the community meet monthly to ensure that students are provided the means to succeed in both the classroom and the boardroom.

All proceeds from Friday’s luncheon go to WIE. Details: Call 810-762-0435. — G.G.
