BURTON — With greater need in the community and further restrictions due to COVID-19, the Burton Fire Department has stepped up to help out with a couple of Salvation Army causes this Christmas.
This year Burton firefighters are working hard to help the Salvation Army to “Stop COVID from Stealing Christmas.”
They are collecting bottles and cans for the Salvation Army as well as helping with their toy drive and Coats for Kids.
Bottles, cans, coats, hats, scarves, and toys can all be dropped off at the department’s headquarters, located at 1320 S. Belsay Rd., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday thru Friday all the way up until Dec. 24.
The fire department will also be doing a special toy drive event in the parking lot of the Burton Walmart, 5323 E. Court St., on Dec. 12, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. This event will include a visit from Santa from 1-5 p.m.
The fire department is partnered with the Burton Police Department and Swartz Ambulance for the toy drive.
