Burton police investigating two murders, hours apart

BURTON — Police were investigating two separate fatal shooting, Oct. 3, just hours apart in the city of Burton.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., the Burton Police Department were dispatched to Speedway, 3514 E. Bristol Rd. for a shooting that left a 27-year-old man dead. At 8:25 p.m., police responded to reports of another shooting, this time at 1160 E. Hemphill Rd., which resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man.

When officers arrived at the Speedway shooting, they found Ammeleo Gerrell Wilson Jr., 27, in a Dodge Durango with multiple gunshot wounds. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was taken to Ascension Genesys Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Burton Police Department was dispatched to Hemphill Road just hours later for another shooting. Officers arrived and found Lavelle Bergerac Ivy, 30, in a Hyundai Santa Fe with multiple gunshot wounds. Ivy was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man was transported to Hurley Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
