BURTON — Bob Long, training coordinator for Glaziers/Glass Workers Local 826, was recently appointed by the Genesee County Board of Commissioners to the Genesee Health System (GHS) board. The board is made up of commissioners along with leaders from the community. Long’s appointment began in April and runs through 2018.
“I approached the commissioners concerning this appointment because I believe that I have the skills and desire to further the existing programs in the system along with helping to develop other areas within GHS,” said Long. “I would encourage anyone who is a resident of Genesee County to become involved in the community and to help us grow to a status that other regions will want to follow.”
Long has been a life-long resident of Genesee County and has resided in Burton for over 30 years. He has been married to his wife Lisa for 32 years and is the father to two grown children and grandfather to four. In addition, to his work with Painters 312 Long earned a master’s degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. Along with serving on the GHS board he is also active at his church, Bethany Baptist of Burton.
GHS provides crisis, mental health and substance use disorder services to residents of Genesee County. They provide help to more than 17,000 residents each year. Additional information is available about GHS at www.genhs.org. — G.G.
