BURTON — For 13 years Chemco has been home to the “scariest haunt” in Genesee county.
Burton business owner Joe Kolly Chemco operates The Crypt with a team of about 20 actors.
Chemco said he adds square footage to the haunted house each year as well as changing the looks of it so that repeat customers can have something new.
The idea of a building a haunted house came after the development of the costume shop Halloween Connection.
A costume shop complete with masks and all gear any Halloween fanatic needs to celebrate the holiday.
“This is the scariest haunted house and has been voted the scariest in Genesee County in the last 10 years,” said Kolly. “We have the best state of the art animatronics.”
Kolly said The Crypt is the longest haunt in Genesee County and that it takes at least 20 minutes to finish the walk through.
“It is very intense and it is not recommended for small children or sissies,” Kolly said jokingly.
Kolly has plans for the future of Halloween in Genesee County. He plans on opening another haunted house in the area. He said he has bought a building and is currently making plans to start renovating the area into a second haunted house.
He plans on having the second haunted house ready for next Halloween.
The Crypt is the only haunted house that is enclosed and is fully equipped with a fire suppression system.
The building is also handicap accessible. For info or group rates, 810-742- 2260.
