SWEET CASH — The Dental Care Team, G- 8189 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, did a Halloween candy buy-back from area children for $2 per pound, giving $1 to the child and $1 to the Children's Miracle Network. All the candy collected goes over seas to U.S. troops. The children also made cards for the troops. This was the second year doing this event. Last year the Dental Care Team collected 300 ponds of candy and this year collected 446 pounds.

W.F.B.A. announces monthly luncheon

 

FLINT TWP. — The West Flint Business Association (W.F.B.A.) announces its November luncheon and meeting Oct. 17 at Old Country Buffet, G-3583 MIller Rd.

Lunch begins at noon, followed by the meeting from 12:30-1:15 p.m. At the meeting, attendees will hear about Michigan’s prospects under a new governor; challenges Democrats face as a minority in both houses of the legislature; and what will be accomplished during this lame duck session. The guest speaker at the event will be Rick Hammel, 48th District State Representative.

Exporting Workshop at Kettering

FLINT — Even the smallest businesses can become exporters, whether low tech or high tech, products or services. And with 96 percent of the world’s customers located outside the United States, it is more important than ever for businesses to learn how to become part of the global economy.

“Think Global — 2nd Annual Export Basics Conference” will be held Nov. 18 from 10 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. at Kettering University. Hosted by the Region 6 office of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center, this workshop will explore the benefits, logistics, and financial issues related to exporting.

The workshop features experts from the U.S. Department of Commerce, U. S. Commercial Service, and business speakers experienced in various aspects of exporting including Richard Corson, Director of the U.S. Export Assistance Center.

The workshop fee is $40 and includes a box lunch. Registration is required by Nov. 15 and is
