After Hours Shindig Planned

FLINT — Join area business professionals 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Jazzercise Flint, 3525 E. Court St. for the Flint Area After Hours Shindig.

Normally held the first Thursday of each month, the Flint Area Shindig meets at a different area business each month for free appetizers and networking. The March Shindig will be March 3rd at the Firkin & Fox.

“Boots for Kids”

FLINT — Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is once again collecting winter boots to prevent hundreds of local children from facing a bitter cold winter without a warm pair of boots to protect their feet.

With designated collection sites in Bay City, Flint, Grand Blanc, Lapeer, Linden, Marysville, Port Huron and Saginaw, HAP hopes to collect 500 pairs of boots for children of all ages served by Carriage Town Ministries of Flint, City Rescue Michigan of Saginaw, Love INC of Greater Lapeer and Pathway Shelter of Port Huron.

Gas price drop 2 cents

GENESEE COUNTY — Average retail gasoline prices in Michigan have fallen 2.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.11 per gallon. This compares with the national average that has increased 1.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.09 per gallon, according to www.michigangasprices.com. — G.G.

GRCC scholarships

GENESEE COUNTY — Women with entrepreneurial aspirations and looking to further their education are encouraged to apply for the Katharine Roat Stevens Scholarship Fund award and/or the Katharine Roat Stevens Education and Training Fund award. The two scholarships are given annually and managed by the Genesee Chamber Foundation.

The Scholarship Fund is awarded up to $1,000 to qualified female high school seniors graduating from Genesee County schools. The application deadline is March 1. The Education and Training Fund is awarded up to $1,000. Applications for this scholarship can be submitted throughout the year for funding consideration.
