Local groups to spread cheer at GVC

— Genesee Valley Center is creating a wonderland of sounds and sights this holiday season. Commencing on Black Friday and spreading throughout the holiday season, choral and instrumental groups from local churches, schools and community groups will be performing in the Burlington Coat Factory Wing.

IMA to hold Fish Fry Fridays

— The IMA Brookwood Golf & Banquet Center is offering “All You Can Eat Fish Fry” dinners Oct. 22 from 4-7 p.m. The “All You Can Eat” dinners include choice of fried or baked fish, french fries, coleslaw, garden tossed salad, tartar sauce, rolls & butter, coffee, hot tea & brownies. Chicken nuggets will be available for the kids. A cash bar will be provided. Prices for the “All You Can Eat” dinners are $8.50 for adults, $4.95 for children under 12 and children under 4 are free.

ATHENA Award nominations sought

— The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce will soon present the prestigious ATHENA Award to an outstanding woman from the community. This award and others will be presented on Dec. 2 at the Riverfront Banquet Center.

The ATHENA Award recognizes a woman who has attained and embodies the highest level of professional excellence in her business or profession, has devoted time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community, and actively assists women in realizing their leadership potential.

New this year the Regional Chamber will also present the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award. This award honors emerging leaders in our community who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession, and serve as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.

The ATHENA Award and ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award recipients will be selected from nominations submitted by members in the business community. We need your help in identifying potential women for recognition. Through the course of your day there are undoubtedly individuals you encounter who are outstanding professional and community leaders. We encourage you to fill out the ATHENA Award nomination forms to let us know who they are.
