FLINT TWP. —The Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W Bristol Rd, and Pastor Andy Foster received a special recognition from the Carman-Ainsworth School Board at its October 21 meeting.
The presentation acknowledged the church for “tremendous support of students and staff at Dillon Elementary,” according to a press release.
Central Church of the Nazarene has provided Dillon Elementary with 13 classroom helpers for 18 hours per week; 12 mentors for 12 students for one hour per week; and 2 building helpers for 2-4 hours per week.
Their support has also provided backto school boxes for each classroom that included crayons, dry erase markers, folders, glue sticks, Kleenex, hand sanitizer and more.
The church has implemented a weekend food program for 40 students at Dillon. Every Friday those 40 students receive a bag of food to take home including nutritious, nonperishable, and easy to prepare/eat items.
Central Church also has been generous with its time by holding a Sunday Work Day – cleaning walls, tables, cutting back shrubs, etc.
Central Church of the Nazarene is not alone in helping support C-A students.
South Baptist Church, 4091 Van Slyke Rd. and Pastor Scott Snyder organized over 25 volunteers to help clean up the grounds at the C-A Middle School. They also have a mentoring program for middle school students and have supported C-A families in various ways.
Support for students from area churches and organizations in the C-A community is always greatly appreciated. Any church or organization that would like to contribute assistance to any C-A building is invited to call 810- 591-3205. — R.S.
