FLINT TWP. — After a graduation ceremony June 5 at Perani Arena, 200 Carman-Ainsworth Class of 2014 graduates gathered at the high school for the annual overnight Senior Post Grad Celebration.
Chaperoned by parents, this post-commencement party is an opportunity for students to celebrate their accomplishment with friends in a safe, substance-free environment. Throughout the night, until 5 a.m. the next morning, they dined on food from local restaurants, played laser tag and basketball, raced wacky trikes, goofed off in the photo booth, were entertained by a hypnotist, and won over 80 prizes including gift cards to local businesses, computer tablets, and a flat screen TV.
“This night would not have been possible without the support of our local businesses whose donations of funds, foods and goodies make it possible to keep the cost to the students minimal,” said Katrina Gleason who headed the parent planning committee. “The amount of donations received this year proves that even when times are tough our community understands how important our students are and they are willing to support them,’ she said. — Rhonda Sanders
