FLINT TWP. — The Carman-Ainsworth FIRST® Robotics Team 314 Megatron Oracles (Big Mo) competed last weekend at the Livonia FRC District Competition to earn points toward qualifying for a spot at the Michigan FRC State Championship.
In their second competition this year, vying against 39 other teams from around the state, Big Mo finished with a third place overall ranking and was selected by the 1st Alliance Captain to be a partner which was declined because they wanted to be captain of their own Alliance, according to a public statement posted on the C-A website.
The team played in elimination matches, which went all the way to the finals. The quarterfinals and finals went to 3 matches.
Team 314, Megatron Oracles also was the 2014 Livonia FIRST® Robotics District Big Mo was alliance team captain with Team 503 Frog Force of Novi: and Team 815, Advanced Power of Allen Park.
With these results, Big Mo is currently placed 4th out of 278 teams that played in the State of Michigan and has earned a total of 131 points towards the Michigan FRC State Championship. Also according to an unofficial listing on ChiefDelphi.com, Big Mo is ranked 41st out of 2,451 FRC Teams who have competed worldwide.
Because of points earned, the team is now projected to compete at the Michigan FRC State Championship.
Also last weekend was the 10-year anniversary of the Megatron Oracles winning the first blue banner at the Southern California Regional with 59 other teams. Only one other team from Michigan was out there then too – FRC Team 815 Advanced Power from Allen Park who was their recent Alliance partner.
Big Mo will next compete April 4 – 5 in the Lansing District Competition at Mason High School.
The Michigan FRC State Championship will be April 10 – 12 at Eastern Michigan University Convocation, 799 N. Hewitt Road in Ypsilanti. — Rhonda S. Sanders
