FENTON — Camp Copneconic is joining YMCA camps across the state in celebration of Michigan Y Camping Month. The event gives families a taste of the camp experience and showcases the benefits for youth of all ages.
Throughout March, Michigan Y Camps will be hosting activities and community events to promote Michigan Y Camping Month. Parents can learn more about Y camps and get a head start in registering their children for a life-changing experience they will never forget.
“At Y camp, we believe that when kids accomplish more, make new friends and feel like they belong, they are developing the skills they need to be successful in life,” said John Carlson, branch executive director at YMCA Camp Copneconic. “We are focusing on these areas to help kids reach their full potential.”
Michigan Y camps provide kids with a summer camp experience that allows them to learn and master skills, make friends and feel welcome. Through Y camping, kids participate in fun and educational activities that help them:
Realize their passions, talents and true potential;
Build friendships with new friends and staff role models; and
Feel like they belong so they can express their individuality.
Camp Copneconic is hosting a funfilled Summer Camp Preview Day on March 13, from 2-5 p.m. Visitors can join in the pirate-themed fun as they tour the camp, meet with counselors, and sample some of the many new adventures that await them as a camper at Camp Copneconic. Guests can sign up their child onsite and save.
By registering before March 15, campers may take advantage of a special early registration price break — the best value of the year. And to top it all off, participants can enter for a chance to win a free week of summer day or overnight camp.
In addition, all 16 of Michigan’s Y camps will be participating in a “Sum UP” photo challenge. Any Y camper, ages seven to 17, can “sum up camp in one photo” and post it, along with a caption of 200 words or less, to the Michigan Y Camps social media sites using the hashtag #MYCMsumUPcamp. Finalist photos from each camp can be voted on by using the like/favorite button on the Michigan Y Camps Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
The statewide winner will receive a $250 registration credit toward the camp of their choice.
