FLINT TWP. — Seniors who are graduating from Carman-Ainsworth High School have been invited to receive their commencement caps and gowns today at the high school during a drivethru pick-up.

To conduct the pick-up in an orderly fashion, Carman- Ainsworth is expecting seniors to arrive at designated times according to their last names: A-G, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; H-M, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and N-Z, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The high school will be following social distancing expectations and is encouraging students and parents to wear masks. Students will also not be able to congregate or get out of their vehicles. Cars that do not have a CAHS senior will be turned away.

Faculty and staff will be present in the parking lot to “clap out” seniors as they arrive to pick up their commencement gear. Students can also return any textbooks, musical instruments and library books to the high school. Yearbooks are available for students to pick up if they have purchased them already.

Students who have received a statement of outstanding fees and fines will be able to process credit cards or cash on Thursday, but payment is not expected until commencement.

Carman-Ainsworth is also encouraging parents and community members to fill out a commencement survey, which is available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/6WJMZPS. This will help the district to weigh options for holding a possible alternative to a traditional graduation commencement ceremony. — B.G.
