Caring Community Credit Unions campaign begins

GENESEE COUNTY — The 4th Annual Caring Community Credit Unions Campaign will begin on Monday, June 3 and will run through June 28 at 13 credit unions throughout north eastern Michigan.

Thirteen credit unions in the FBEM service area are stepping forward to help their neighbors in need. Each participating credit union came up with creative ideas and fun competition among branches, staff and members to generate donations.

For every $1 donated, six meals can be provided to help feed the hungry.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan serves 22 counties with an active network of 417 partner agencies consisting of church pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and community centers.

The Food Bank distributed more than 21 million pounds of food through the agencies and various programs in 2012.

Kid’s Café, Summer Feeding and the Backpack program, offer food relief to children in need, while the Senior Box Program reaches out with a monthly food box for low-income seniors

Donations can be made to any participating Credit Unions or to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan online at www.fbem.org.
