FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools has begun accepting School of Choice applications for the 2020-2021 school year. This is for students who do not reside within the district’s boundaries.
Students applying through School of Choice will not be charged tuition and do not need a release from their resident district if accepted for enrollment. Behavior reports for the past two years are required with each application. Transportation is the responsibility of parents.
Currently, the district has limited openings at Dillon (K-third grade), Dye (K-fifth grade), Randels (K-fifth grade) and Rankin (Kindergarten, first, fourth and fifth grades) elementary schools. Applications for these grades will be available on the district’s website until July 21.
If more students apply for a specific building and grade than available openings, a lottery process will be used to fill such openings. All remaining students qualifying for acceptance will be placed on a waiting list in the event more openings occur.
The district has unlimited openings for Carman-Ainsworth High School, as well as sixth grade through eighth grade at Carman-Ainsworth Middle School. Applications for these grades will be available on the district website until Aug. 26.
