Carman-Ainsworth bowling shines at state finals

MUSKEGON — Individually, freshman Jordan Nunn led the way for the boys’ squad, finishing 11th with a 1,237 in the individual bracket after a round of 16 loss to Grandville’s Zach Schneider, 414-339 at Northway Lanes in Muskegon on Friday and Saturday for the Div. 1 state bowling finals. As a team, the boys’ squad placed second with a total of 3,485, while the girls accumulated 3,280 for sixth place. The boys were stopped in the quarterfinals by Jackson, 1,290-1,140, and the girls’ run came to an end in the quarterfinals, falling to Macomb Dakota, 1,135- 1,124.

As for the Lady Cavs, senior Quinisha Burnett placed ninth with an 1,191, while junior Shamonica Simon came in 11th with an 1,185. Kenzey Lord finished the day in 24th with an 1,151. Burnett fell in the round of 16 to Walled Lake Western’s Madalyn Klein, 415-343, while Simon advanced past Clinton Township Chippewa Valley’s Kristen Young, 367-365. Simon’s season ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to Macomb L’Anse Creuse North’s Alyssa Meade, 430-352.
