Carman-Ainsworth boys roll at regionals




The Carman-Ainsworth boys track team scored points in all but two events at the Division 1 regionals Friday winning the regional title.

The Carman-Ainsworth boys track team scored points in all but two events at the Division 1 regionals Friday winning the regional title.

DAVISON — The Carman- Ainsworth boys’ track team had a number of state qualifiers at the Division 1 regional meet Friday. Jaquin Jones took first in the high jump, Devonte Johnson claimed the top spot in the pole vault and Tyler Minor was first in the long jump.

The Cavaliers also finished first in three of the four relay events. Minor, Logan Bannister, Caleb Ruffin and Demarion Allen broke the tape in the 400, Bannister, Allen, Minor and Ruffin were first in the 800 and Bannister, Jalante Childress, Kyle Mason and James Johnson took the top spot in the 800.

Bannister also qualified in the 200 by finishing second. Bryant Hudson qualified in the 110 and 300 hurdles, taking second in each event.

This was the fifth trophy Carman- Ainsworth took home this season. The Cavaliers were undefeated so far this season heading into Wednesday’s Saginaw Valley Championship Meet.

“The squad had a big team effort and was able to score in a lot of events,” Carman-Ainsworth coach Kenn Domerese said. “In all we scored in 15 of 17 events, which is quite an accomplishment in a field of 16 teams.”

Harmony Williams qualified on the girls’ side by taking second in the 100 hurdles.
