— Three new teachers were hired Aug. 3 during Carman-Ainsworth’s Board of Education meeting.
Recommended by Supt. Bill Haley, the board unanimously extended contracts to Brian Klein, an industrial arts teacher, Michelle Kolar, a special education teacher for the high school, and Jennifer Moul, also a special education teacher.
Kolar, who was present at the board meeting, was welcomed to the district by Haley and the board members.
“I’m excited to be starting as a special education teacher at the high school,” she said.
Also during the meeting, the Carman-Ainsworth board approved a leave of absence for the 2010-2011 school year for high school teacher Kevin Hewitt. Haley said that Hewitt will be going to teach in another country, along with his wife.

The board accepted a list of coaches for fall sports
Board approved electing Cindy Gansen, a board member from Flushing Community Schools, to the 2010 MASB Board of Directors, Region 5. The appointment is for one, three-year term.
Haley said that he would like for the board to adopt a budget amendment on the Dec. 14 school board meeting. Haley said the district will have data concerning enrollment and any prorations from the state, enabling them to have a budget amendment and make adjustments to the district’s budget.
The next meeting of the Carman-Ainsworth Board of Education is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Carman-Ainsworth Administration Building.
