MT. PLEASANT – Saginaw Heritage proved to be too tough for the Carman-Ainsworth girls’ basketball team, as the Hawks put an end to Carman-Ainsworth’s season, handing the Lady Cavs a 63-40 loss in the regional finals last Thursday. This was Carman-Ainsworth’s second loss to Saginaw Heritage this season.

Saginaw Heritage took an 18-8 lead in the opening frame and never looked back, extending it to 37-11 by halftime. Heritage then outscored the Cavaliers 19-10 in the third. Carman-Ainsworth edged out Heritage in final quarter, 19-10, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Individual stats were not reported.

“We finished the season with a 22-3 record, which is the best in school history,” said Lance Belill, Carman- Ainsworth coach. “It is tough to say goodbye to our lone senior, Bless Calhoun, but we wish her the best and thank her for everything she has done for this program. We are excited to move forward with the girls we have coming back, and hopefully, we will continue to get better from year to year and make a longer run in the tournament.”
